Velvet Lanka Tours

Sri Lanka’s beaches are nesting grounds for five of the world’s seven species of sea turtles, including the endangered green, leatherback, loggerhead, olive ridley, and hawksbill turtle, making the island one of the most important sea turtle conservation sites in Asia. Our turtle conservation experiences take guests to certified coastal hatcheries and protected nesting beaches, where dedicated conservationists work year-round to protect nests, care for injured turtles, and raise awareness about the threats facing these ancient reptiles. Guests may participate in responsible nest protection activities, observe hatchlings being prepared for release, and learn about the science of sea turtle biology and the global conservation challenges they face.
