Trincomalee, known simply as ‘Trinco,’ is one of the world’s finest natural harbours and a destination of historical, cultural, and natural significance. The town is home to the Koneswaram Temple, perched dramatically on Swami Rock above the Indian Ocean, as well as Fort Frederick, a colonial sea fort offering sweeping harbour views. From May to September, Trincomalee’s beaches are among the calmest and most beautiful on the island, while the offshore waters host regular sightings of blue and sperm whales.
