Adam’s Peak, known as ‘Sacred Footprint,’ is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in Asia, revered simultaneously by Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and Christians for the mysterious footprint-shaped impression at its 2,243-metre summit. Pilgrimage season runs from December to April, during which tens of thousands of devotees and travellers make the pre-dawn ascent of the steep, light-strung stairway to witness the sunrise and the pyramid-shaped shadow the peak casts across the morning clouds below.
