Velvet Lanka Tours

Known as ‘Little England,’ Nuwara Eliya is a highland town whose colonial architecture, tea estates, rose gardens, and cool climate give it an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Sri Lanka. The town was developed as a retreat for British planters and colonial administrators during the 19th century, and its heritage is still visible in its bungalows, post office, racecourse and golf club. The landscape is a patchwork of tea fields, eucalyptus forests and vegetable farms, making it one of the most photogenic settings.
